How to Apply For US Visa

There are a couple of things that you should be clear about if you are planning a trip to the United States. The first and most important being that the entire process takes time. You cannot wake up one morning and decide that you want to be gone in a week.

Visa requirements

Some of the requirements for a US visa are:

  • Valid passport with at least two pages on it.
    • They would use these two pages to stamp the details of your new visa.
  • Application forms.
    • They would need you to mention a couple of details.
      • Reason for travel.
      • Your personal details.
      • Your family details.
      • Passport, past visa and travel details.
    • Sponsorship documents.
      • An invitation letter from someone staying in the United States.
        • Vouching that you will return to your country of residence.
      • Letter from your employer stating that you have a job and are returning to the country with the details of this job.
    • Letter from a physician stating that you are healthy and do not have any medical appointments during the time when traveling.
    • Bank statements, along with basic assets.
      • Showing them proof that you have a reason to come back.
    • Travel itinerary.
      • So they know what you are planning in their country.
      • Mention tickets entering and leaving the country.

These are the most important documents that you might be asked for. There could be a few variations depending on the type of visa you are applying for, but these documents usually remain unchanged.

After everything is submitted, you would receive a call in a week and they would give you the appointment date and time shortly after. After completing the appointment, you have to wait for a month and the passport would be sent to you.
